D.C. Black Pride celebrations continue throughout the weekend with various parties and events.

Pretty Boi Drag hosts a Black Pride brunch at Old Engine 12 Restaurant (1626 N Capitol St., N.W.) on Sunday, May 21 from noon-3 p.m. Admission includes a bottomless buffet. DJ Honey plays tracks. Tickets range from $30-40. For more information, visit prettyboidrag.com.

Jaywalking Productions and Makers Lab host ā€œBlack Planet: A Black Pride Celebrationā€ at Tropicalia (2001 14th St., N.W.) on Sunday, May 28 from 4-8 p.m. There will be performances by the CooLots, Pretty Boi Drag and Pinky KillaCorn. Music will be a mix of hip-hip, trap, house, ā€˜90s and more. Early bird tickets are $10 and regular admission is $15. For more details, visit jaywalkingproductions.com.

Big Boy Pride hosts its Big Boy Party at Living Room (1008 Vermont Ave., N.W.) on Friday, May 26 from 6-11 p.m.There will be drink specials and door prizes. Cover is $10. For more information, visit bigboypride.com.

Monday Night Skating, an LGBT skating group, hosts a Black Pride Skate at Laurel Skate Center (9890 Brewers Ct., Laurel, Md.) on Monday, May 29 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. There will be a conga line, raffles and games. For more details, visit facebook.com/mondaynightskating.

Celebrate July 4 with area fireworks displays

Festivities planned for National Mall, Baltimore, Rehoboth Beach

The National Mall is the most popular place to watch the D.C. fireworks display; spread a blanket near the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, or the Lincoln Memorial. The 17-minute display starts at 9:09 p.m. and will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

In Baltimore, the Inner Harbor Fourth of July festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and the fireworks and drone show will begin at 9:30 p.m. downtown at the harbor.

The fireworks in Rehoboth Beach, Del., will be held on Saturday, July 6.

The 2024 Smithsonian Folklife Festival takes place on the National Mall June 26ā€“July 1, with the program ā€œIndigenous Voices of the Americas: Celebrating the National Museum of the American Indian.ā€

Since 1967, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival has been held on the National Mall; events are free. Festival hours are 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., with evening concerts Friday through Sunday from 5:30-7 p.m. For details on specific events, visit festival.si.edu/visit.
