Lee Pace has announced he is “a member of the queer community” after declining to label his sexuality in a recent interview.

W Magazine asked the 38-year-old actor about his sexuality and described him as “surprised by the question.”

ā€œIā€™ve dated men. Iā€™ve dated women. I donā€™t know why anyone would care. Iā€™m an actor and I play roles,ā€ Pace told W Magazine. ā€œTo be honest, I donā€™t know what to say ā€• I find your question intrusive.ā€

Now, Pace has addressed his sexuality in a series of tweets.

“In a recent phone interview, I was asked questions that I wasnā€™t expecting and found myself momentarily at a loss for the right words. My privacy is important to me, so I protect it. When interviewed by the media, I keep the focus on my work,” Pace tweeted. “As a member of the queer community, I understand the importance of living openly, being counted, and happily owning who I am. Thatā€™s how Iā€™ve always lived my life…”

He finished off the thread by listing his history of portraying queer characters including in “The Normal Heart” on Broadway, the TV series “Halt and Catch Fire” and his current role as a closeted gay Mormon man in the Broadway revival of “Angels in America.”
