“Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher is denying that a gay scene in the biopic will be censored following a report from the Daily Mail that claimed Paramount Studios wanted to edit the scene.

The 40-second scene featured Elton John (Taron Egerton) and Johnā€™s manager and lover John Reid (Richard Madden) showing off their ā€œfully exposed white derrieres.ā€ The Daily Mail reported that Paramount Studios wanted the scene cut to achieve a PG-13 rating in hopes of achieving similar success to the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which is PG-13.

Fletcher took to Twitter to deny the report calling it “nothing but rumors.”

ā€œSeeing much speculation about ROCKETMAN!ā€ he wrote. ā€œThatā€™s good! Itā€™s still unfinished so itā€™s nothing but rumours. It has and always will be the no holds barred, musical fantasy that Paramount and producers passionately support and believe in. See for yourself May 24,ā€ Fletcher tweeted.

Even though “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a box office hit, the film was accused of straight-washing Freddie Mercury with a lack of scenes about Mercury’s attraction to men and more focus on his relationship with girlfriend Mary Austin.
