Chris Colfer has been cast in “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie,” as announced on the film’s official Facebook page.

The “Glee” actor joins an already star-studded cast including Joan Collins and Kim Kardashian. The film, based on the British comedy television show “Absolutely Fabulous,” followsĀ Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) whose glitzy lives are threatened after a scene at a party.

The announcement included a photo of Colfer in between Saunders and Lumley. The photo was captioned: “Look whoā€™s found himself in the middle of an Ab Fab sandwich! Weā€™re feeling totally gleeful as we welcome the wonderful Chris Colfer to the cast.”

Saunders created the role specifically with Colfer in mind. He described the role as aĀ ā€œhairdresser-slash-social media consultantā€ in an interview with Larry King on Friday.

ā€œJennifer Saunders is one of my heroes,ā€ Colfer told King. ā€œI canā€™t believe she wrote the part for me.ā€

The film, which will be filmed in parts of the U.K. and south of France, is set for release in 2016.
