Singer-songwriter K Anderson remade the classic, retro “Cheers” introduction into a trip down memory lane in LGBT nightlife history.

The “Cheers” introduction famously features vintage pictures from the bygone eras of old school bars and nightlife. Anderson replaced these pictures with historic images of LGBT nightlife. These photos capture gay nightlife in Berlin and Paris in the ’30s, Stonewall, the Mattachine Society and even the disco nights of the ’70s.

“This has been ready to go for a while, but then Orlando happened, and then Brexit happened, and then the world continued to feel as though it was falling apart, and I didnā€™t feel much like sharingā€¦. But, here we goā€¦,” Anderson writes in the video description.

“When I was recording this song it struck me that the lyrics, and especially the line ā€˜you want to go where people know, people are all the sameā€™ could be describing the safety and solace found by outsiders in a gay bar,” Anderson continues. “So, I went digging for vintage photos of gay bars, clubs and parties in order to recreate the iconic opening credits from the tv showā€¦. And, it was hard! There are not that many old photos out there of people in gay bars (unless they are rioting out the front!), and especially few from the UK.”
